Audio Kit is now at release version 1.5

The App includes the following tools:

  • A real time Spectrum Analyser
  • Scope – an oscilloscope to display waveforms
  • an SPL (sound pressure level) Meter
  • and a sine wave Signal Generator

Since the first release the following features have been added:

  • Enhanced frequency calculation improves resolution of peaks to within 1Hz.
  • Single tap to freeze Spectrum screen. Can be disabled in preferences.
  • SPL meter has a continuous ticker style trace of the SPL over time.
  • Improved sine wave generation.
  • Signal Generator now includes white noise and pink noise signal types, in addition to the existing sine wave signal.
  • Spectrum display has 6 selectable FFT window function types – Hamming, Hann, Rectangular, Bartlett, Triangular and Blackman.
  • Spectrum now has selectable FFT sizes of 8192, 4096 and 2048, giving much better resolution of frequencies.
  • Persistent settings for all user preferences.
All of the user preferences in each of the above applications can be made persistent between restarts of the App.
  • Large number display of strongest frequency in Spectrum display. This is in addition to the small moving text above the peak, and can be quickly turned on or off.

Common uses for this App include:

  • checking for feedback and resonance frequencies when setting up PA systems

  • an inexpensive oscilloscope to view audio waveforms

  • measuring sound pressure levels

  • providing audio test signals
